Udupi Police Confirm Survivor’s Blood Tested Positive for Narcotics in Karkala Rape Case
The Karkala kidnap and rape case has got a major update. The Udupi district police have said that victim tested positive for narcotics, her blood samples were sent for testing following allegations that she was drugged.
However, the primary accused, Altaf, along with another suspect, Xavier Richard Quadros, who is alleged to have supplied her with beer, both tested negative for drugs. In light of the narcotics found in the survivor’s blood, Altaf asserted that she had taken drugs from a packet discovered in a vehicle seized by the police.
This packet has been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for analysis to identify the substance and compare it with the drugs detected in the survivor’s blood.
A separate case has been filed at Karkala Town police station under Sections 8(c) and 22(b) of the NDPS Act, along with Section 3(5) of the BNS. The police are conducting an extensive investigation to trace the drug’s origin. The survivor is expected to provide a statement before a magistrate once she is medically cleared.
